Official Handbag of the Hurricanes

Kiwis are crazy for rugby and, as with hockey (ice hockey for you non-North Americans) in Canada, they have their star players. Tana Umaga is one of those star players. He recently announced his retirement and it was front page news. He played his final season with the Wellington Hurricanes, who just lost the Super 14 final in a crazy test where you couldn't see a thing because of the fog.

Last week, Tana Umaga and a teammate, Chris Masoe, were drinking at a pub and Masoe drank too much. Masoe fell into the lap of one of the bar patrons and then began punching him in the face. In an apparent effort to get his teammate off the undeserving victim, Umaga grabbed a purse from the bar and proceeded to beat his teammate with it. Masoe began to sob. Masoe and Umaga were removed from the bar by the bouncer.

The purse owner, later discovering that her cellphone was broken, decided to list the purse/cellphone on Trademe. Last night the auction closed...the final bid $22,800
