My Whanau

My mom found a website which traces my family tree back to my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather who was born in 1690 in Suffolk, England. The website also has our coat of arms:

Pretty cool, eh?

That site has the correct moto for my family, the 'Clan Ross'.. the coat of arms is very basic on this site but it does depict the three lions and the fist holding the wreath which are both correct to my family crest.

apart from the seemingly versatile coat of arms, interesting info. Thanks Brian.
I am a kind of with Knollster on this one. My Dad is kind of into the whole Family Tree thing. He bought a family crest for our house. A small plaque that hangs on the wall. He is so proud of it. Why then, do you find various ones for the same name on the net?. Which one really is ours?

You should have it tattooed on you. He he.
That could be a mistake if it is wrong. Funny mistake though!

Although a fun suggestion I think a tattoo is out of the question, at least until I can demonstrate its validity.

As for the coat of arms, although there is certainly reason to be skeptical, I have some faith in the one I posted. The source is a bit less dodgy than www.houseofnames.com.

Unlike many of the sources that came up when I looked up "Double's coat of arms", my source is not selling anything. It apears to come from a guy whose hobby is genealogy and that requires a certain type of person : ) who I figure would not take attribution of a coat of arms lightly.
