Seeking advice

I have been selling items on trademe (same as ebay) and one of my items has been lost in the post. The lady I sold to wants her money back. What should I do? In my ad, it clearly said pick up only and she bid anyways and asked if I would post to her. I said yes..does this make me liable? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Nat

Might be good to talk to the tradme folks directly. If they have any advice, then pass it on to the unhappy trader and see if you can work out a compromise or something. Unfortunately the NZ post won't help unless the package was trackable. Hope it works out.

I'm not sure how trademe works but ebay always very clearly states that the shipper is not responsible for lost or damaged packages but that shipping insurance should be made available. In that case, the parcel would be insured against loss or damage. I suppose its a case where maybe you should have suggested shipping insurance and given her the option to pay for it but I would still say in this case that she forced the risk by demanding it be shipped and its her loss..

I don't know the answer but my word verification is...

How close to a real word can you get?

I guess you could also offer to return half of the purchase amount with the understanding that if the item turns up you would complete the sale at that time? That might be a fair compromise? Just my two cents.. again.. lol

Thank you for your advice.
Shannon: I have emailed trademe and am awaiting a response.
tj: lol
J: thanks for your advice..I am going to wait for a response before responding to the lady. Splitting the difference seems fair--good one!

cheers,
